To listen to the Voiceover Demos
included on this site, you must have one of the following media players. The problem with the newest media players is they
want to be your default player. The problems begin
when the player changes your file allocations (where
it is decided what player will play what type of audio file)
even if it is unable to play that particular format. The worst offenders
of this problem are the latest Quicktime (I recomend that you uninstall
it if you are having problems) and the latest Real One Real Audio Player.
Real player 8 if you can find it still plays the latest .ram files but
doesnt take over your settings. When you install a player be very carefull
when selecting what type of files you will allow it to play. It will
want them ALL even if it doesnt have the correct codecs top play it. If you still have problems feel free to Voice Over Contact me and I will see if I can help. | ||||||

. . . Player Trouble. . .
|
|
1. What is streaming? Live audio streaming (or Internet broadcasting) allows the listener to not have to download the sound file Voice Demo before listening. The listener connects to the encoded broadcast, receiving the audio (data) while they are listening through their Internet connection. |
|
2. What is buffering? Why does it happen? The streaming data must be a little ahead of what is actually playing to keep the audio free of hiccups or interruptions. Buffering occurs at the time of connection and sometimes while listening because of the listeners Internet connection cannot receive the data fast enough to play the audio smoothly. |
|
3. Why am I getting an error message? My apologies for your frustration, however there are a variety of factors that may cause this error. The most common is that the stream is temporarily down or there is network congestion somewhere between the server and you. I apologize for your inconvenience and suggest to keep trying or to try again during low traffic hours. |
|
4. Why does the player just stop? The player will sometimes go from 'playing' to 'stopped' due to network congestion or technically difficulties. Try again and if the problem re-occurs, try again during low traffic hours. |
|
5. Why is the sound quality poor? The encoding bit rate for "Dialup connections" is of lesser quality the Broadband. If you want a better sounding demo, try downloading the Broadband version. This will take longer, but the sound is much better. |
|
6. How do I know which player to use? I list streaming links for the most popular streaming formats including Real, Windows Media Player, and Streaming MP3. If you have these installed, the proper one will be launched after you click on the audio link. You will also see that the logo of the streaming format is listed above the audio link, therefore you can select Voiceover Demos to stream with your preferred media player. |
